Hey! Look! Listen! to The Holy Ghost

"Hey!"
                  "Look!!"
                                        "Listen!!!"

One of the best "Worlds" I have found to demonstrate the principle of the Holy Ghost is in the world of "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time"
Navi the fairy

But what is the Holy Ghost? What can we compare it to?

First we have to know what the Holy Ghost is!

" But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring I all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you." (John 14:26)

" But when the
Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:" (John 15:26)

So the
Holy Ghost is the Spirit of God who teaches us, helps us, comforts us, and more. People describe it as a still small voice, or a feeling.

What can we compare it to?

In "
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time" there is a little fairy called Navi. Navi travels with Link and reminds him of what he needs to be doing, she also gives helpful tips... And a smart remark or two. Although she isn't exactly like the Spirit of God, (She does get pretty annoying...) when I was younger, Navi was always there for me!

There is a time in the game where you are still a little boy. You live In a village inhabited by a bunch of Kikori. They are small people, like wood elves. You start off by your house and you go explore the village, but you have no idea what your doing! You just wonder around throwing rocks, talking to random people, and causing havoc. But you have this little fairy named Navi helping you along the way. She tells you who you need to talk to next, in this case its the Great Duku Tree! If you follow her council, then you will get where you need to go!

Imagine if Link never paid attention to Navi!

As you go through the game, Navi tells you "Hey" "look" or "listen." Pointing out things you didn't notice, reminding you of things you have seen, done, or need to do. She is there to help you. But you have to pay attention to her!

What if Link never listened to her!? Then Ganondorf, the evil villain, would take over all of Hyrule forever! Gasp! Zelda would never be able to stop him, and they game would have a horrible ending! So when you hear the "hey" "look" "listen" of the Holy Ghost, PAY ATTENTION!! The Holy Ghost doesn't waste his breath.

Listen to the Holy Ghost..

When you listen to the Holy Ghost, you can avoid unwanted dangers or worries. The Lord wants us to be safe, but also will give us trials. But remember, he will always provide a way. (1 Nephi 3:7)

But how do we recognize the Holy Ghost?

The
Lord has provided a way to know when His Spirit speaks to us. In Galations chapter 5, He gives us a way to know...

" But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,... Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law."(Gal 5:22-23)

Everyone feels the
Holy Ghost differently. But you can know how it speaks to you is if you pray to God and ask Him in the name of Jesus Christ to help you recognize it. Then go and read in the scriptures... And I promise that you will feel the Holy Ghost! And by the Holy Ghost, like Navi... you can know the truth of all things.(Moroni 10:5)

Faith....And Spoiled Milk...

I heard this story and had to add it!!

There once was a man serving as a missionary in Chile. It was time for him to go to a new town but it would take a few weeks before he could get to his assigned area. He was an American and the people in the little town he was going to serve in knew that "Americans love cow milk," so they worked really hard to find some cow milk.

Cows were pretty rare in this area of Chile and goats is where they got most of the milk. But eventually, they got a glass of cow milk and were very excited! So they put in on the shelf until the missionary would get there....in two weeks. They didn't have refrigerators or anything to keep the milk from going bad. After two weeks, the milk was brown and chunky, but the family was so excited when there American Missionary arrived at there home and could drink his cow milk.

Well.... HE DRANK IT!!!! And you can imagine what happened.

Well... Faith can be compared to Milk! If you only fill the glass once and put in on the shelf, eventually it will spoil and have to be thrown out! You need to constantly refill the glass of milk on the shelf so you always have fresh milk on the shelf, or in other words... keep nourishing your faith so you never lose it! Read, Pray, Go TO CHURCH!!! you must constantly work to keep that faith Fresh!

Welcome!!!

If your anything like me, you enjoy fantasy, the world of wonder, fictional stories and imagination land. There is just something about the worlds without number in these stories that become so real to us. Majority of these worlds are creation of someone's imagination or a variation of the world we live in. The characters, whether they be based on real people or not, become real to us. We can look at their lives as a spectator or a active person in their life.

Many times we are the character who has emotions and makes decisions in their life. What is it about these fantasy worlds that click with us? Why is it they can teach us lessons that we don't learn from our lives?

The human mind, I believe, is generally good, loving, caring, and looks for new ways to learn. Fantasy worlds can teach us moral lessons in a way that sticks with us. I have been a missionary for near two years now and the one thing that always sticks out to me is that stories and analogies make teaching principles so much easier.

I have also noticed that stories, fiction or non-fiction, can teach us principles in morals, decision making, cause and effect, etc. Even The Lord in the scriptures uses stories to teach us gospel principles, why not I?! This is my goal. It is no secret that stories in video games, books, short stories, movies, tall tales, folk tales, ect. can be used to help us to understand the gospel.

Lord of the Rings, Halo, Rangers Apprentice, Captain Moroni, Star Wars, etc. are just examples of stories, and each one has at least one gospel principle!

Now let your mind focus on the stories and let the spirit teach you. If you listen closely, it will teach you about your relationship with God and how you can grow closer.
